Lech Zürs is small, so you’re never far from a lift, but the four districts feel quite different. Lech is the village centre, Oberlech is a car-free hamlet on the slopes above it, Zürs is a hotel village higher up the valley, and Zug is a quiet hamlet just outside Lech. Many hotels are right on the pistes. What you’ll mostly be choosing between is atmosphere, convenience and price, which runs high everywhere.
Best areas to stay in Lech Zürs
Lech village
The centre has the shops, restaurants, the tourist office, the main car parks and the valley stations of the Rüfikopfbahn and Schlegelkopfbahn. It’s the most convenient base and the easiest one to reach by bus from Langen or St. Anton. The free blue local bus runs to the other districts.

Oberlech
Up on the slopes at more than 1,750 m, Oberlech is car-free in winter and full of ski-in/ski-out hotels. You park in Lech and ride the Bergbahn Oberlech up, and hotels arrange your luggage. It’s sunny, quiet and very popular with families, and the floodlit toboggan run takes you down to Lech in the evening. The downside: you’re reliant on the lift to reach the village.
Zürs
Zürs, at about 1,717 m, is the higher, snowier village, and it’s mostly hotels. The Flexenbahn to Stuben and St. Anton leaves from here, and the Trittkopfbahn, Seekopfbahn and Zürserseebahn start in the village. It’s great for skiing, but quiet in the evenings.
Zug
A small hamlet just outside Lech, with a calmer feel and a spot on the Weisse Ring circuit. The local bus connects it with Lech.

Getting around Lech Zürs from your hotel
You don’t need a car once you’ve arrived. The blue local bus links Lech, Zürs, Oberlech and the hamlets, it’s included in your ski pass during the day, and from about 7.30 pm the James night bus runs between the districts until about 2 am. If you do drive, the public garages in Lech, including the Anger, Mühle and Green Garage at Rüfiplatz, are free on days you have a valid ski pass. Staying in Oberlech? You leave the car in Lech, ride the Bergbahn Oberlech up, and your hotel brings the luggage.

Almhof Schneider is five-star superior and ski-in/ski-out. In Zürs, the Zürserhof is a five-star resort run by the same family in its second and third generations, with the Aureus spa.
Good-value places to stay in Lech Zürs
Honestly, Lech Zürs is not a value destination. Your best bets are guesthouses and apartments, especially in Lech village or Zug, and travelling outside Christmas, New Year and February half-term. Remember that the blue local bus is included with your ski pass, so a room away from the lifts is less of a hardship than it sounds.
Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Lech Zürs
- Check the hotel’s dates. The lifts run from 2 December 2026 to 18 April 2027, but some hotels open later or close earlier.
- Watch the road report. If heavy snow and avalanche warnings are forecast for your travel day, the Flexen Pass road can close at short notice. Build in some flexibility.
- Consider the train. Langen am Arlberg and St. Anton stations, plus the regional bus, avoid both parking and chains.
- Ask about parking. Oberlech is car-free, and many hotels in Lech have their own spaces, but check before you arrive.
