In Baqueira-Beret the big choice is simple: stay up at Baqueira 1500, next to the gondola, or down in the Val d’Aran villages, which have more character and often better value but mean a short drive or bus ride every morning. The resort’s own agency, Viajes Baqueira Beret, sells hotels and apartments across the Val d’Aran and Pallars Sobirà, with packages that include your lift pass.

Best areas to stay in Baqueira-Beret

Baqueira 1500

The main base, at the foot of the Baqueira gondola and the Bosque chairlift. It has the ski schools, Baby Baqueira 1500, the Baqueira Store, covered parking at Ruda and the après-ski. It’s the best choice if you want to walk to the lifts, especially with small children or lots of kit. The trade-off is that it’s a purpose-built resort rather than a village, and prices reflect the location.

Tredòs

A small village about 2 km below the resort, five minutes’ drive from the lifts. It’s quiet, with thermal baths (the Banhs de Tredòs) and a short commute.

Salardú

About 4 km from Baqueira, with an old stone centre, a Romanesque church and a handful of hotels and restaurants. It’s a good balance between village life and an easy trip up the hill.

Arties

Around 6 km from the slopes, with thermal waters in the village. A pleasant, relaxed base if you don’t mind a short drive or bus each morning.

Vielha

The capital of the Val d’Aran, about 15 minutes’ drive from Baqueira. It has the most shops, restaurants and services, the Palai de Gèu sports centre, and the widest choice of places to stay. It’s also where the ALSA buses from Barcelona and Lleida arrive, so it’s the practical base if you’re coming without a car. The local VA bus runs up to Baqueira 1500.

Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Baqueira-Beret

  • Check the snow first. In a lean spell, staying in Baqueira 1500 or close by lets you get up to Beret and Bonaigua quickly, where the bases are higher.
  • Check opening dates. Some hotels open after the lifts. Hotel Montarto takes winter bookings from 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027; Orri and Tuca reopen on 4 December.
  • Avoid Spanish long weekends. The early-December bridge holiday, Christmas and Easter (28 March in 2027) are the busiest and dearest.
  • Consider a package. Viajes Baqueira Beret’s stay-and-pass packages deliver your lift passes to your hotel reception and include covered parking at Ruda.
  • No car? Pick Vielha or a village on the bus route, or a hotel with its own transport to the slopes.
