Sölden stretches a long way along the valley road, so where you stay decides two things: how far you walk to a gondola in ski boots, and how much après-ski you hear at night. There are two very different choices. You can stay in the main village, close to the lifts, shops and bars, or up at Hochsölden, on the slopes at 2,090 m.
Best areas to stay in Sölden
Sölden village, near the Giggijoch gondola
The Giggijochbahn is the main lift up the mountain and the best entry point for the Giggijoch and Hochsölden slopes. Staying near it puts you in the busy centre, close to shops, restaurants and bars. It’s the most convenient base for most groups, but also the liveliest, so check where your room faces if you want an early night.
Sölden village, near the Gaislachkogl gondola
The Gaislachkoglbahn, about a kilometre further up the valley, is the village’s other big gondola. Staying near it is a good base for the steeper Gaislachkogl side, the BIG3 Rally (which starts and finishes here) and the 7.3 km toboggan run from the middle station. The walk between the two gondolas is long in ski boots, so pick your end of the village first.
Hochsölden
A small cluster of hotels and chalets at 2,090 m, on the slopes above the village. You ski from the door, the snow is better than in the valley in a mild spell, and the evenings are much quieter. The trade-off is that there are few restaurants or bars, and you need the glacier road to get down to the village. Some of the runs back to the hotels can be tricky for nervous beginners.

Best ski-in/ski-out hotels in Sölden
True ski-in/ski-out is in Hochsölden:
- Superior Hotel Enzian, Hochsölden: four-star superior with ski-in/ski-out access, an outdoor infinity pool facing the slopes and an underground car park. It reopens on 20 November 2026.
- Skihotel Edelweiss, Hochsölden: four-star, directly on the slope at about 2,090 m, with indoor and outdoor pools.
- Haus Maria, Hochsölden: a self-catering, chalet-style house on the slopes for families and groups of up to 24.
In the village, Glanz & Glory is the closest you’ll get: a four-star hotel a few dozen steps from the Giggijoch gondola, with an Intersport ski hire shop on the ground floor.

Luxury hotels in Sölden
Das Central is Sölden’s best-known five-star. It has a 2,000 m² Summit Spa with twelve saunas and a 17 m infinity pool, and its restaurants include ice Q, the restaurant at the Gaislachkogl top station. It reopened on 22 October 2026, so it’s an option for autumn glacier trips too.
Bergland Design & Spa Hotel is the other five-star in the village, with a Sky Spa that has indoor and outdoor pools. In Hochsölden, Superior Hotel Enzian trades village life for skiing from the door and an infinity pool looking onto the slopes.

Good-value places to stay in Sölden
Sölden isn’t cheap in peak weeks, but there are ways to bring the cost down:
- Glanz & Glory gives guests discounts on online ski hire and early-bird ski passes, and it’s right by the Giggijoch gondola, so you won’t need a car.
- Haus Maria works out well for big groups who split the cost and cook for themselves.
- Self-catering apartments and guesthouses fill the village and the hamlets down the valley. The valley bus and ski shuttles are free with the Guest Card in winter, so a base a little out of the centre isn’t a hardship.
Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Sölden
- Check the hotel is open. Opening dates vary a lot. Das Central reopened on 22 October 2026, while the Enzian in Hochsölden reopens on 20 November.
- Early and late season are the sweet spot. The pre-season (12 November to 4 December 2026) and spring glacier skiing (19 April to 2 May 2027) are usually quieter than the peak weeks of Christmas and February.
- Avoid World Cup weekend in late October if you just want to ski: the valley road and the glacier get very busy.
- Pick your gondola. Check whether your hotel is nearer the Giggijoch or the Gaislachkogl, and how far it is on foot.
- Hochsölden for quiet, the village for après. If you want early nights, Hochsölden or a hotel away from the main bars makes a big difference.
- Driving to Hochsölden? Carry snow chains: the hotels there advise it.
