Davos Klosters works well for families who plan around its layout. The mountains aren’t all linked, so the trick is to base yourself near the right one: Bolgen in Davos Platz for first steps on skis, or Madrisa above Klosters for a whole mountain built around children.

Is Davos Klosters good for families?

Yes, with a little planning. The highlights:

  • Free magic carpets at Bolgen and Bünda in Davos, open to adults too.
  • Under-6s ride free with their parents.
  • Madrisa, a family mountain with four practice lifts, Madrisa-Land and an 8.5 km sledge run.
  • Free buses with the guest card, so you can get to the right practice area without a car.

The downside: Parsenn and Jakobshorn are big, high mountains, and the most famous runs aren’t the place for little ones.

Book early for Christmas and February.

Tips for skiing in Davos Klosters with kids

  • Base yourself by the beginner area. Davos Platz is handy for Bolgen, and Klosters for Madrisa.
  • Avoid WEF week. From 18 to 22 January 2027, Davos is packed and Rinerhorn closes.
  • Use the train. Travelling with children is easier without the car: change at Landquart for the Rhaetian Railway, then use the free local buses.
  • Pack for altitude. Davos is at 1,560 m and Parsenn tops out at 2,844 m, so bring sun cream and warm layers.
