Laax is spread across three villages, each with its own lifts into the same ski area, so the choice is less about access and more about atmosphere. Do you want to be at the gondola with the bars and shops, in a proper village, or somewhere quiet?
Best areas to stay in Laax
Laax Murschetg (the valley station)
Laax’s ski base, built around the main valley station. The rocksresort, signinahotel and Riders Hotel are all here, with restaurants, bars, shops and the LAAX School office on the doorstep. It’s the easiest base for skiing and for families, and it’s where the après happens. The downside is that it’s modern and purpose-built rather than a traditional village.
Laax village
The old village of Laax is a short bus ride from the valley station, by Lake Laax, with an ice rink beside the lake. It’s calmer and more local than Murschetg, but you’ll take the bus or walk to the lifts each day.
Flims
The biggest of the three villages, split into Flims Dorf and Flims Waldhaus. Lifts from Flims climb to Foppa and Nagens, and the village has the widest choice of hotels, shops and restaurants, plus the sports centre with its ice rink. It’s a good base for a mixed group and for anyone who wants village life in the evening.

Falera
A small, quiet village on a sunny terrace, with a chairlift up to Curnius and a free ice rink below the church. There’s little nightlife and a smaller choice of places to stay. Note that the Hotel La Siala in Falera closed its hotel in March 2025, so you’ll be looking at apartments here.

Staying on the mountain
Two places let you wake up on the slopes. The GALAAXY mountain hostel, at 2,252 m on Crap Sogn Gion, has 132 beds, opens only in winter and sits right by the snowparks. Berghaus Nagens, also winter only, is a few steps from the piste above Flims.
Best ski-in/ski-out hotels in Laax
- signinahotel, Laax Murschetg: four-star, directly at the Laax valley station, with a spa including an adventure pool, sauna and cold baths.
- rocksresort, Laax Murschetg: 248 apartments at the valley station, with the gondola right outside.
- GALAAXY mountain hostel, Crap Sogn Gion: on the slope, next to the parks. Winter only.
- Berghaus Nagens, above Flims: a few steps from your room to the piste. Winter only.
Best family hotels in Laax
| Place to stay | Area | Why families like it |
|---|---|---|
| rocksresort | Laax Murschetg | Apartments at the gondola, the Laax crèche nearby, free weekly programmes in peak seasons |
| signinahotel | Laax Murschetg | Four-star at the valley station, children’s playroom and an adventure pool |
| Schweizerhof Flims | Flims Waldhaus | Family-run four-star with a natural stone pool and water world |
| Hotel Adula | Flims Waldhaus | Four-star superior spa hotel with family offers |
The LAAX School crèche for children aged 1 to 4 is at the Laax valley station, which makes Murschetg the most practical base with toddlers. For ski schools and beginner areas, see Laax with kids.
Luxury hotels in Laax
The signinahotel and Hotel Adula in Flims Waldhaus, a four-star superior spa hotel, are the most comfortable hotels currently open. For something more private, Casa Mulania at Laax Murschetg has four luxury apartments in a renovated chalet over 300 years old.
The best-known grand hotel in the area, the Waldhaus Flims, is closed and says it hopes to reopen for the spring and summer 2027 season, so it isn’t an option this winter.
Good-value places to stay in Laax
- Riders Hotel, Laax Murschetg: a design-led hotel by the valley station, with a restaurant, lobby bar and events club. Good for young groups and riders.
- GALAAXY mountain hostel: the cheapest way to sleep on the slopes.
- Hotel Vorab, Flims Dorf: a family-run hotel at the entrance to Flims. The Meiler family, who have run it for three generations, are due to leave on 30 March 2027, but the hotel is open this winter.
- Apartments in Flims and Falera usually work out cheaper for groups than hotels.
Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Laax
- Check the lift price before the room. Laax lift tickets are dynamically priced, so a cheap room with an expensive day pass may not be the bargain it looks.
- Check the hotel’s season. The Schweizerhof Flims, for example, is open from mid-December and closes from 29 March 2027. Many places open later than the lifts.
- Watch the event calendar. The LAAX OPEN, from 13 to 16 January 2027, fills beds around the valley station.
- Stay at the valley station if snow is marginal. The gondola from Laax Murschetg gets you to the high, snow-sure slopes fastest, and you can ski back down later in the day.
