Verbier spreads across a wide hillside, so where you stay changes your day. Close to the Médran lifts means walking to the slopes; further out means relying on the free shuttle buses or a hotel shuttle. Down in the valley, Le Châble has the train station and the gondola up to the resort.
Best areas to stay in Verbier
Médran
Around the main lift station, the best spot if you want to walk to the slopes each morning. Hotels here range from W Verbier to small family-run places such as the Mirabeau.

Place Centrale
The heart of the village, with bars, restaurants and shops on the doorstep. It’s a short walk or bus ride to the lifts. Great for après, noisy at night.
The upper village
Higher up and quieter, with views across the valley. You’ll usually need the bus or a hotel shuttle to reach the lifts. Le Chalet d’Adrien is up here, overlooking Verbier.
Near the sports centre
Handy for the pool and climbing wall, a bus or shuttle ride from the lifts. Cordée des Alpes is in this part of the village and runs its own shuttle to the slopes.
Le Châble
Down in the Val de Bagnes, with the train station and the gondola up to Verbier. It’s handy for drivers and rail travellers, and the Bruson sector is reached from here too. The trade-off: you depend on the gondola at the start and end of each day, and evenings are quiet.
Getting around Verbier from your hotel
Verbier’s free shuttle buses link the different parts of the resort, including the beginner areas at Les Esserts and Les Moulins, so a hotel away from Médran isn’t a disaster. But buses with skis, boots and small children get old quickly, especially at the end of the day. If you’re staying up the hill, check where the nearest stop is, and whether your hotel runs its own shuttle, as Cordée des Alpes does.
Best hotels near the lifts in Verbier
Verbier doesn’t have much true ski-in/ski-out, so these are the hotels that put you closest to the Médran lifts:
- Mirabeau: family-run since 1973, under a minute’s walk from the Médran lifts. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are vintage, but the location is hard to beat.
- W Verbier: at Médran, close to the lifts, with 123 rooms and suites, each with a fireplace and balcony.
- Les Chamois: on Rue de Médran, with everything about two minutes’ walk away.
Best family hotels in Verbier

| Hôtel de Verbier | Place Centrale | Four-star superior, family-run, with a spa, some rooms for three and studios |
| Cordée des Alpes | Near the sports centre | 15 m indoor pool, ski hire on the ground floor and a shuttle to the slopes |
| W Verbier | Médran | Close to the lifts, with a pool in its 1,300 m² spa; open year-round |
| Mirabeau | Near Médran | Under a minute from the lifts, so short legs don’t have far to walk |

Good-value places to stay in Verbier
Verbier is one of the most expensive resorts in the Alps, but there are a few better-value options:
- Bristol Verbier: 32 rooms near the central square, with breakfast included. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the lifts, or take the free bus.
- Les Chamois: a family-run three-star in the centre.
- Mirabeau: simple rooms, unbeatable location.
- Le Châble and La Tzoumaz, on the same lift pass, are quieter alternatives to staying in the resort itself.
Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Verbier
- Location over luxury. A modest hotel near Médran often beats a smarter one that needs a bus every morning, especially with children.
- Avoid peak weeks if you can. Christmas, New Year and February half-term are the busiest weeks. March and April are usually calmer.
- Check the shuttle. If your hotel is up the hill, ask whether it runs its own ski shuttle, or how close the nearest bus stop is.
- Check what’s open. Official 2026/27 season dates hadn’t been published when we checked. Early in the season, look at how much of the high terrain is running before you commit.
- Arriving early in the season by gondola? The Le Châble to Verbier gondola is closed for maintenance from 26 October to 6 November 2026, with replacement buses.
