Livigno is long and spread out along the valley floor, so where you stay decides how much you’ll use the free bus. The good news is that lifts and nursery slopes are dotted along the whole village, and the free town buses link both sides of the ski area. True ski-in/ski-out hotels are rare, so think in terms of “near a lift” rather than “on the piste”.
Best areas to stay in Livigno
The centre (Via Plan and around)
The pedestrian heart of Livigno, with the most shops, bars, restaurants and duty-free shopping. It’s the easiest base for groups and for après-ski, and several small, family-run hotels here are good value. You’re in the middle of the valley, so you can walk to some lifts and take the free bus to the rest.

The Mottolino side
Handy for the Mottolino gondola, the snowpark, the Yepi kids’ trail and the indoor kindergarten at the M’eating Point hut. A good choice for families and park riders.

The Carosello 3000 side
Handy for the Carosello 3000 gondolas, the highest lifts (including the new Altavista chairlift), the Stalet après bar and The Beach kids’ cross. Also convenient for the Tagliede–Costaccia gondola.
Trepalle and Passo d’Eira
Higher up the road towards the Foscagno pass, quieter and away from the village bustle. It suits people with a car who want views and calm. The free bus has 12 stops in Trepalle, but you’ll spend more time getting to the lifts.
Hotels near the lifts in Livigno
- Hotel Bucaneve: four-star, about 100 m from the Mottolino lifts and a five-minute walk from the centre.
- Hotel Flora: four-star in the centre, on Via Taglieda, with direct access to the main street, the ski lifts and the cross-country track.
- Hotel Alpenrose: three-star in the pedestrian zone on Via Plan, with the lifts within walking distance.
Distances matter more here than in a compact resort, so check the walk to the nearest lift on a map before you book.

For more comfort, these four-star hotels have the biggest spas we found:
- Hotel Lac Salin Spa & Mountain Resort, on Via Saroch, has a 1,200 m² spa. The hotel says the 2026 Olympic snowboard and freestyle events took place right in front of it.
- Hotel Flora gives a whole floor to wellness, with a heated pool with whirlpool, a sauna, a Turkish bath and a gym, plus a covered garage.
- Hotel Dimora degli Dei, at about 2,200 m on Passo d’Eira, has a wellness centre with a pool, sauna and hot tub, and big mountain views.
- Li Anta Rossa, on Via Pemont, is a brand-new four-star lodge with a wellness and spa area. It’s adults-only, so it’s one for couples, not families.

Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Livigno
- Use Skipass Free. From 28 November to 19 December 2026 and from 10 April to 2 May 2027, participating hotels include a free ski pass for stays of at least 5 nights (4 ski days), and apartments for at least 7 nights (6 ski days). Check that your accommodation takes part.
- Look for MyLivignoPass Gold properties. Bucaneve, Alpenrose and Dimora degli Dei are among the hotels that include it, with free use of local public transport.
- Plan your arrival. The Munt la Schera tunnel has special Saturday hours in winter, and snow can slow the Foscagno pass. Allow extra time and check conditions before you leave.
- Ask about parking. Several hotels have covered garages, which you’ll appreciate in a cold snap.
- Fill up in Livigno, not before. Fuel is duty-free, but you can only take out one approved can (up to 10 litres into the EU) on top of a full tank.
