Breuil-Cervinia is compact, and most of the skiing starts from one main lift base, so location matters less than in a sprawling resort. What does matter is how you reach the snow: straight out of the door onto a piste, a short walk to the lifts, or a bus or car from further down the valley.
Best areas to stay in Breuil-Cervinia
The village centre
Shops, restaurants, bars, ski schools and the main lift station are all within walking distance, and Via Guido Rey, where the Scuola di Sci del Cervino is based, runs through the middle. The best choice if you want to walk everywhere and don’t mind carrying skis a short way in the morning.
Cretaz
The area around the Cretaz lifts and the large schooling slope where beginners learn. A sensible base for families and first-timers. Art Hotel Grivola is on the pedestrian street, a few steps from the Cretaz lifts.

Via Giomein and piste 3
A string of hotels sits on or beside the pistes coming down into the resort, with genuine ski-in/ski-out access. They’re great for keen skiers, but you’ll rely on a shuttle or a walk to reach the village in the evening.
Valtournenche
A lower, more traditional village on the road up, with its own lift into the ski area. It’s quieter and often better value, and it has the area’s sports centre with a pool. The downsides: it’s lower, so check the snow on the bottom runs late in the season, and its lifts run a shorter season, from 28 November 2026 to 25 April 2027.

Tips for booking a last-minute stay in Breuil-Cervinia
- Check the hotel’s season as well as the lifts’. Many hotels close between summer and winter. Principe delle Nevi, for example, reopens on 20 November 2026, a month after the glacier lifts start.
- Use the First & Last Tracks offer. In 2026/27, guests at participating accommodation get 30% off a 4- to 7-day lift pass.
- Ski-in/ski-out means a walk home at night. Hotels on the piste are brilliant for skiing, so check whether there’s an evening shuttle to the village.
- Get the car off the road. The main car park by the lifts charges by the day, and several hotels have their own parking or garages.
- Late season is a strong option. The Breuil-Cervinia lifts are scheduled to run until 2 May 2027, and April trips often get good snow without the crowds.
- Book early for Christmas, New Year and Italian holiday weeks, when the resort fills up.
